Detailed Information for the League

GTTTA League Format
The League Director starts off each league night with a list of players who have previously participated in the league, in order of rating. In general, the format is to put the top five or six players present into the top group, the next five into the second group, and so on down the list. Unrated (new) players will be placed in the bottom group (unless the League Director decides otherwise). Players are then hand-written onto blank Round Robin group sheets.

To be included in the league draw, you MUST arrive before 6:20!
Also, each session will be limited to the first 32 players how arrive and sign in.

Each player then plays all other members in their group. The goal is to win the group and to improve one’s league rating. The match format is best of three games each to 11 points (best of 5 if there is time). Group winners are promoted to the next highest table if (and only if) they are present the week immediately following.

There may be other league formats used occasionally throughout the semester.

League Ratings
League ratings will be calculated in the same way that USATT ratings are, using the same rating adjustment chart. Ratings will be calculated and posted online when the results are input by the League Director. “Initial” ratings for unrated players will be calculated after the fact during the first pass of rating calculations using the average of the player’s best win and worst loss. The second calculation pass will then proceed as usual.
